Say Goodbye to Spider Veins with Sclerotherapy

sclerotherapy

If your self-confidence is suffering because of spider veins on your legs or elsewhere, we offer a simple solution. You can say goodbye to these near-surface discolorations via sclerotherapy. This is a simpler procedure than other options like surgical removal. Most of these unwanted veins are located close to the skin, and they can be collapsed and discarded without the need for surgical tie-off.

These tiny veins that draw blood from the capillaries near the skin usually don’t form until the individual is past 30 years of age. However, sclerotherapy can be performed on individuals younger than this if vein removal is desired. During a consultation, we will examine the trouble spot and let you know if you’re a suitable candidate.

Causes and Symptoms

Most medical professionals believe that these veins are the result of hormonal changes or extensive pressure on the leg muscles. Genetics likely plays a role as well, as individuals with a family history of varicose or spider veins are at a greater risk. The affected area looks reddish or bluish, and the visual symptom is anything but appealing.

This is not a serious medical condition, but these veins can cause pain. Wearing compression stockings can help, but in the end, it’s the discarding of these blood vessels that’s truly desirable.

About Sclerotherapy

When we schedule a consultation with you, we’re interested in finding out the size and location of the vein. Even if it’s located further below the skin layers, we may be able to treat it simply by injecting a special solution into the vessel.

When we inject this solution into the vein, it begins to irritate the vein wall. This causes the vein to constrict and stick together. In time, the stuck-together vein will soon be discarded by the body as waste material. The entire area of skin above the now-discarded vein tissue will begin to show normal tone. The procedure itself is performed in the comfort of our office.

Every Case is Different

Depending on the location of the vein and its depth, we may recommend another treatment. During the consultation, we’ll outline any procedure customizations so that you’ll know exactly how the treatment will be performed.
